My passion for bringing joy to the lives of senior adults began at an early age when my Gramps encouraged me to entertain his friends at the Senior Center. Fifteen minutes of stand-up, egged on by hoots and applause from the crowd, ignited a spark of love in my heart for the older generation. Thirty plus years later that spark has erupted into a full flame of passion for providing motivation and support to professional and family caregivers, caring for seniors living with Alzheimer’s Dementia. Through my work experience in long term care, assisted living, and in-home care, it became evident to me that providing high quality, compassionate care for someone living with Alzheimer’s takes a village, and family engagement in any setting is vital. Joy Filled Visits is dedicated to helping families "maximize family time in the midst of Alzheimer's".

On Mission all the Time

I have been blessed to travel, in 2014 and again in 2016, on mission to the FROG Centre, (Fully Relying On God), in Mitchell's Plain, South Africa. While there I had the opportunity to provide Alzheimer's awareness to senior adults in the community, dementia care training for in-home caregivers, make home visits, and provide individual coaching for family members caring for a loved one living with Alzheimer's. My goal was to help families -> help their loved one -> live well with Alzheimer's. Unfortunately, that isn't always the case. The home visits made it very obvious that families who are engaged in care see much better outcomes for their loved ones, than those who rely solely on an outside source to provide care in the home. But families need training, they need support, they need encouragement - and that is the purpose of Joy Filled Visits, LLC! I am so grateful for the opportunity to have an ongoing relationship with the caregivers who serve out of the FROG Centre, and the wonderful Pascoe family who, through faith in God, started and continue to serve their community. I look forward to future trips, and if you would like more information on the FROG Centre, or to read about fund raising projects like our 2015 Great Shoe Challenge or the 2017 Rand for Raincoats for caregivers serving out of the FROG Centre, please check out our Facebook page at Frog Centre/South Africa 2019. The team traveled once again to the FROG Centre this past spring, and celebrated it's 20th Anniversary with the Pascoe family and friends!
